The character worthy of emulation
THE CHARACTER WORTHY OF EMULATION
A story was told of how Naomi lost everything in Ruth 1 and decided to return to the land of Israel and the two daughters-in-law followed her. She compelled them to go back. Orpah which means "gazelle" decided to go back because by the meaning of her name, she is not supposed to go to a place where she cannot discern the environment; so she decided to go back to her people. But Ruth meaning "friendship" decided to stay with her. If we may ask why will Ruth lose her husband and father-in-law, yet decided to follow her mother-in-law to the land she came from. She saw a character in her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law and their belief in their God who opened up the red Sea that overthrew Pharaoh, causing water to flow out of dry rock; how they had manna to eat throughout their journey; fighting their battle for them and brought them to the land that he promised. These stories were very exciting to Ruth and she decided" I may have lost my husband by the look of things, there may be no hope but I believe that the God who saved Rahab, a harlot and the family from Jericho can also give me hope that no god can give and vowed" your God shall be my God and your people, my people". The situation that confronted Ruth was a very terrible one but she knew what she wanted and went for it.
In conclusion, Ruth did not regret her going with Naomi into the land of Isreal, for the God she vowed to be her God did not disappoint her.
The things you hear or see about this great and mighty God is enough to see you through. Hold fast to your faith. He neither sleeps nor slumbers. Keep holding on to your faith.
ACTION POINTS;
1) LORD let the things I hear about you continually strengthen me, regardless of the situation around me.
2) LORD give me the grace not to waver.
3) Oh LORD! Strengthen me on every side.
4) LORD let me see my desire come to pass in my days and time in Jesus' name.
